Cosmetic Acupuncture uses smaller acupuncture needles in the face, neck, or abdomen to create tiny micro traumas. These traumas stimulate the collagen growth in the areas where the needles were inserted. This will gently fill in any lines around the eyes, lips, and/or the area around the neckline. The treatments consist of two treatments a week for several weeks. The frequency of the treatments allows the collagen to get into the area and stay there. It takes approximately four weeks for the collagen to actually build up and stay in the area.
In addition, you will also receive body points that not only correspond with the area that you would like to work on, but to address any imbalances that may be going on in your body. For example; if you experience digestive issues, needles will be selected to resolve the digestive issue.
Once receiving a series of treatments you do not really need to return for a treatment for at least a year. However, many people decide to continue with monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly treatments to remain healthy and relieve stress.
Whether you choose to do the face, neck and/or abdomen your first treatment will consist of an initial consultation and an evaluation to determine if you are a good candidate for the desired treatment. You will also receive an acupuncture treatment designed around your intake to experience acupuncture and ready the body for the treatments.
