ALPHA GAL ALLERGY

Alpha-Gal Allergy is also known as Red Meat or Mammalian Meat Allergy (MMA). The allergy is a reaction to a sugar carbohydrate found in all mammals but humans.

Alpha-Gal Allergy is also known as Red Meat or Mammalian Meat Allergy (MMA). The allergy is a reaction to a sugar carbohydrate found in all mammals but humans. The name of this sugar is glacatose-alpha-1, 3-glacatose or alpha-gal for short. In addition to being in meats from mammals, it can also be in products that come from mammals like milk, dairy products, broths, flavorings, lards, oils and many more. In addition, these mammal products may show up in medications, cosmetics, soaps, and other personal products. This can make it very hard to determine if you have alpha gal or not.
Alpha-Gal allergy occurs when you are in contact or bitten by a Lonestar tick and the tick injects you with the sugar. Your body is okay with this sugar until you add more of it into your body either by ingestion or topically. Then your body will react by having severe digestive issues and/or rashes, hives, and in severe cases anaphylactic shock. Recent research has shown that Alpha Gal is being carried by other ticks, such as the Black Legged Tick aka Deer Tick. Also a tick does not have to bite you, it can just crawl on you and you can get the sugar.

Currently Western Medicine does not offer a treatment for Alpha-Gal. At Acupuncture Works the solution offered is Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment (SAAT) to treat Alpha-Gal Allergy. SAAT was developed by Dr. Nader Soliman, an innovator in the field of Auricular Medicine. The SAAT procedure has resulted in thousands of Americans finding remission from Alpha-Gal.

Acupuncture Works is excited to be able to offer this treatment to the people of Lynchburg Virginia and the surrounding areas including Southwest Virginia, East Tennessee, North Carolina, and West Virginia.

Treatment includes a consultation, evaluation, and the insertion of a tiny 3mm needle. One needle is inserted per allergen and up to 4 needles may be inserted during the first visit. Each needle is covered with medical adhesive and tape. The needles are retained for 3 weeks; this is how long it takes to reset the body so that it is no longer reacting to Alpha Gal.

Once the needles are removed the body continues to build the immunity response. This can take up to 5 weeks before the body is completely desensitized-
